About Éditions Pigouchet

Éditions Pigouchet is an academic publishing imprint based in Paris, dedicated to the publication of advanced research in philology, literature and poetry, manuscript studies, art history, and the history and culture of the book. Taking its name from the Parisian printer Philippe Pigouchet (active 1488–1518), the press aligns itself with a tradition of scholarship rooted in the material and intellectual history of texts.

In April 2026, Éditions Pigouchet acquired Alta Formazione Editrice and its catalogue, incorporating a body of work developed within a network of university scholars committed to rigorous research and critical inquiry. This integration marks the transition from a primarily Italian-language publishing initiative to an international editorial framework.

Founded in connection with the Associazione Internazionale per l’Alta Formazione (AIAF), Alta Formazione Editrice has contributed to the dissemination of scholarly work across disciplines, with particular attention to the role of literature, art, and culture in contemporary society. Its editorial programme—encompassing monographs, essays, and research-based publications—has been defined by a commitment to intellectual independence and the circulation of knowledge without recourse to author-funded publishing models.

Éditions Pigouchet extends and consolidates this orientation within a broader European and international context. The press collaborates with academic institutions and research networks, including ISFiDa (Institut d’Estudis Filològics Dantescs i Digitals Avançats) and OProM (Organisation pour la Protection des Manuscrits Médiévaux), contributing to ongoing work in manuscript studies, digital reconstruction, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Committed to high academic and editorial standards, Éditions Pigouchet supports work that combines methodological rigour with critical depth, addressing both specialised scholarship and the wider intellectual landscape of the humanities.

Academic and Editorial Standards

Éditions Pigouchet is committed to scholarly integrity, editorial independence, and rigorous academic standards. Publications are selected on the basis of their originality, methodological soundness, scholarly relevance, and contribution to their respective fields.

Submitted manuscripts undergo preliminary editorial assessment and, where appropriate, independent peer review by specialists in the relevant field. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on scholarly and editorial criteria. Any financial contribution towards production or publication costs is entirely independent of the evaluation and peer-review process.

The press is committed to responsible scholarly publishing and to the principles of research integrity, transparency, accurate attribution, intellectual freedom, and respect for intellectual property and cultural heritage.

Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

All manuscripts submitted to Éditions Pigouchet must constitute original scholarly work and must appropriately acknowledge the ideas, words, images, data, and research of others. Plagiarism, including the unattributed reproduction or substantial appropriation of previously published material, is not accepted. Where concerns arise, manuscripts may be subject to additional editorial or plagiarism checks before publication.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of quotations, references, attributions, permissions, and factual information contained in their work. They are also required to disclose any relevant conflicts of interest and any previous publication of substantially overlapping material.

Particular attention is given to publications involving manuscripts, archival materials, works of art, archaeological objects, and other forms of cultural property. Authors must provide appropriate documentation concerning reproduction rights and, where relevant to the research, provenance. Éditions Pigouchet will not knowingly publish material that promotes, legitimises, or facilitates the illicit circulation of cultural property.

Scientific and Editorial Board

The Scientific and Editorial Board oversees the academic standards, editorial integrity, and strategic scholarly direction of Éditions Pigouchet. Bringing together scholars from different countries and disciplinary traditions, the Board contributes its expertise to the development of the publishing programme and supports the press in maintaining rigorous standards of research, evaluation, and publication.

The Board advises Éditions Pigouchet on its principal fields of publication and, where appropriate, on individual projects and editorial initiatives. Its role is distinct from independent peer review, which is conducted by specialists selected according to the subject and scope of each publication.

Submit your manuscript

Éditions Pigouchet welcomes proposals for monographs, critical editions, essay collections, and research-based publications in philology, literature and poetry, manuscript studies, art history, and the history and culture of the book.

All proposals undergo preliminary editorial evaluation. Selected manuscripts may subsequently be submitted to independent peer review. Particular attention is given to originality, methodological rigour, the quality of documentation, and the contribution of the proposed work to its field.

Authors interested in submitting a proposal are invited to provide:

• a table of contents;

• a sample chapter;

• a short academic CV.

Following evaluation, selected projects may be considered for inclusion in the editorial programme of Éditions Pigouchet. Depending on the nature, production requirements, and scope of the project, a contribution towards publication costs may be requested.
